All orders over $32 can ship for FREE!
This is 100% NATURAL, environmentally friendly, beeswax from our colonies that are free of antibiotic and harsh chemical treatments. This helps to keep our beeswax as natural as possible! Use it for your own projects such as making your own lotions, balms, soaps, candles, lubricating drawers and zippers, woodworking supplies, etc.
We recommend light colored wax for lip balm, cosmetics, color sticks, and other color-sensitive products. Medium colored beeswax is usually used for soaps, most lotions, and other purposes where newer wax is preferred but color is not important. Candles are a perfect use for medium colored wax. Dark colored beeswax is best for soap (where exact color is not important and very little is used at once), household uses, and most wood working.
We sell our unbleached, NATURAL beeswax in ~1 ounce bar form. Our beeswax varies in color because it is natural and unbleached. Plus, we harvest and keep it separated by color! The newest beeswax (meaning it was just made and used, typically, only once by the bees) is light colored (or almost white!). It usually comes from “cappings wax”, and it has been in the hive the least amount of time. This means that it will be the “cleanest wax.” Medium colored wax varies from off-white, to light brown, or even a yellow color. This wax has been colored because the bees naturally used it to store darker honey, pollen, or even a batch of brood or two. This is the natural color of most young beeswax in the hive. It may or may not be older than the “white wax” since color depends on use. Older wax – regardless of the use – gets darker with time due to repeated use to store darker honey, pollen, and brood. This will be brown, dark yellow, or even orange depending on how it was used for the bees. Due to age, this is the most likely to have environmental contaminants from the flowers that bees visit! We don’t recommend it for skin-contact items although MANY people use it as such. (If we bleached it white like some sources, you couldn’t tell that it wasn’t white cappings wax!) Darker beeswax may clog candle wicks unless you refine it further.
